Meanwhile, in Philadelphia,

These pictures taken Thursday show the flooding that occurred on I-676 in Center City

Given that no one was injured and that all the damaged property belonged to rich people (and Aramark, a genuinely evil corporation), I think it's probably okay to say that I am highly amused by the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in Philadelphia. Although I can't find any photos, there's apparently one Whole Foods in particular that got turned into a toxic swamp.

As far as I can tell, West Philadelphia and North Philadelphia - in other words, the poor people districts that this expressway was created to isolate - are fine. I'm not sure why, but the good sense and black-hearted glee with which the city has been responding to the flooding of the Schuylkill River (as well as the tornado warnings in South Jersey) has given me a strong sense of calm and contentment.

Maybe? Maybe it is time to buy a house.
