Somewhere around eleven hours in you begin to fully appreciate the Buddhist doctrine that "life is suffering." Not in any sort of philosophical sense, but in a very real and very visceral sense. You realize that the act of living is nothing more than avoiding the pain of being alive, and that everything else - language, art, culture - is a thin sheet of ice over a vast ocean of suffering.
On the other hand, Japan is really cool! One thing I think that you especially would appreciate is just how much of a cultural institution Final Fantasy is over here, like, this is just another advertisement in the train station...
