I'm still trying to get one more chapter out before the end of 2017, but I'm running out of days, so I'm going to go ahead and post my statistics on AO3 for this year, followed by those from the previous two years.

2017

2016

2015

I'm too lazy to draw any conclusions from this data, especially in relation to what these metrics looked like last year. I'm also still not entirely sure how AO3's statistics generating tool works. For example, in the "Kudos" category, is it measuring all the kudos I received in 2016, or all the kudos I received on the stories I posted in 2016?

Regardless, the take-away point seems to be that I wrote some words and people were kind to me.

Next year I want to write less fic and spend more time leaving positive feedback on other people's stories. As opposed to 2015, when I left 109 comments, and 2016, when I left 114 comments, this year I only left 9 comments on AO3. This is mostly a result of me feeling increasingly alienated from fandom, but I can't deny the sheer laziness factor. Also, it feels weird to leave a short and simple comment like "I love this, thank you for writing it!" when other people have left multiple paragraphs of effusive praise and commentary.

I think what I'd like to do is to use Tumblr as a platform to rec fic, especially since there are so many fantastic stories on AO3 that most people never see because they don't have smut, they don't feature a popular ship, and/or their authors aren't on Tumblr promoting their work. This is why I think it would be cool if, instead of posting my own fic next year, I were to make biweekly posts about other people's fic.
