2017 Weekly Writing Log, Part Eight
Mar. 5th, 2017 03:29 pmOkay, well. This week I mostly played video games. Still...
- I posted the sixth chapter of The Marriage of Lanayru. This story is turning out to be really stupid, but almost no one is reading it, so I DO WHAT I WANT.
- I edited the fourth and fifth chapters of the story and posted them on FFN. The fifth chapter especially was a mess, and I had to retcon a minor detail. Who is even keeping track of the plot, idk, certainly not me.
- I posted roughly five hundred words of bullshit aboutmy wife Ganondorf Breath of the Wild on Tumblr.
- I love the character designs in Breath of the Wild! I've been keeping something resembling a sketch diary as I play through the game, and I posted the first entry on Tumblr. My art (lol "art" haha) is godawful. I have to keep reminding myself that I am hurting literally no one by sharing it.
- I posted a new guest review on my professional book review blog. The dude who wrote it is not just brilliant but also a good person, and it made me so happy to tweet his work to the publisher. He deserves all the professional attention he can get.
- I did a peer review for an application submitted to an international fellowship. Generally I want people to be happy and successful, but the application was utter garbage, and it was difficult and painful to write a set of comments. I don't feel good about having done this, to be honest. I should have declined the invitation as soon as I learned that the organization wanted me to serve as the third reviewer (generally there are two reviewers for things like this, and a third reviewer is only called in if there are problems). I probably ruined someone's life, and I didn't even get paid for it. Next time, JUST SAY NO.
- I wrote about five hundred words of the introduction of that book manuscript I was supposed to submit back in August. Woo hoo, making progress... *dies*
I guess I'm getting back into the swing of things, which is nice. Breath of the Wild is a lot of fun, and playing it is giving me life. Next week will also be good! Stay strong!!
