LEAVE KUDOS YOU COWARDS
Nov. 9th, 2017 09:26 amI recently became disheartened when I realized that one of my more popular fics on AO3 has less than a 1% "kudos to hits" ratio, so I put a note at the end gently asking people to leave kudos if they enjoyed the story.
This past week I got more kudos on that fucking fic than I have gotten in the last five months.
On one hand, that's awesome! On the other hand, I am still disheartened; I'm embarrassed that I'm reduced to asking for positive feedback, and I'm troubled that people have to be reminded to perform standard social exchanges within fandom. My traffic has gone way up during the past two years, and I'd like to think that the quality of my writing has improved as well, but people have been leaving fewer and fewer kudos. Is this maybe indicative of a larger trend?
Or maybe my stories just suck idk.
