2019 Weekly Writing Log, Part Seven
Oct. 27th, 2019 07:19 pmThis week I flew to Chicago for a conference. There was a lot of preparation in advance and exhaustion afterward, and I got sucked into a trashy spy novel along the way. I also spent some quality time at Quimby’s Bookstore, where I dropped off the last remaining copies of my zines. I’ll write about all of that later, maybe. In the meantime, this is what I managed to accomplish this week:
- I edited and posted the eleventh story in A Hero’s Inventory. It’s okay. It could be better. I posted it anyway.
- I wrote the first five hundred words of the final story in the series. This one is probably going to run long, and I’m going to let it happen. My goal is to have it finished and posted by the end of November.
- I’m still editing my meta essay about Twilight Princess. It’s not bad, but it’s not ready to be posted yet. It would be nice if I could finish it by next weekend.
- I edited and posted the seventeenth chapter of Malice. It could have been more polished, but I want to keep the story moving forward. I also wrote five hundred words of both Chapter 18 and Chapter 19.
- I got a fantastic commission of Ganondorf that I was able to post with Chapter 17. This artist also illustrated one of my ideas about the Breath of the Wild sequel, and I've really enjoyed working with them.
- I finished my comic about Link’s Awakening! It was formatted for Instagram and Twitter, but I also posted the whole thing on Tumblr. It’s not the most beautiful or profound comic in the world, and my original vision was constrained by the relatively low level of my artistic ability, but it’s done. Hooray!
- I returned to and edited another book review from 2018. I already posted a shorter version of this review on Goodreads, so I edited that as well.
- Bree Paulsen finished my Halloween botanical illustration commission, and it is gorgeous. A lot of thought and care went into this piece, and it’s going to make a great zine cover.
I’m feeling hideously tired and worn out right now, and I think I’d like to take next week easy. I want to watch some anime, play some games, finish some novels, catch up with some friends, and do a bunch of messy sketches and studies that I don’t post anywhere.
