But No Pressure
Feb. 18th, 2020 10:17 amI have a lot of issues with Patreon, but I'm considering setting up a creator account of my own.
I've found a model of being a creator on Patreon that I can get behind, which is when everything is very public and also very chill. I call this the "you can give us money but no pressure" model.
This is probably the platonic example:
https://www.patreon.com/oglaf
What I appreciate about this model is that it allows you to support work you like without feeling as though your engagement is being incentivized.
I still think that Patreon is kind of evil as a platform, but I have no ideological opposition against using the tools of capitalism to resist it.
