Wiztober

While I sincerely respect and admire everyone who participates in October drawing challenges, I also find them exhausting. Since I'm incapable of generating even sketchy monochromatic art on a daily basis, I will do the smart thing and cheat.

I'd like to do a custom drawing challenge next October that I'm going to call "Wiztober." Basically, I will draw a wizard every day. Except what I'll really do is draw one wizard every week, save the drawings, and then post them in October. If I start in January, I should have enough wizards for all of October, plus seven or eight grace weeks.

Instead of drawing according to a list of themes, I'll figure out the compositions first and then come up with themes that fit the drawings. Double cheating!!

It goes without saying that these "ink" drawings will be digital. Triple cheating!!!

I'm putting together a set of thumbnails, and so far I have seven. I'm spending every Friday this semester in the Fisher Fine Arts Library, specifically in this seat (not my photo btw), and there's a lot of wizard inspiration there. If I sketch three thumbnails every Friday, I should have a complete set by the end of the year.

Aside from these wizards, which I want to draw in an "anime lite" style in order to develop my dynamic pose skills, I'd really like to work on interiors, as well as illustrations that feature more than one character. More compositional elements means more time spent on each piece, though, so I might only be able to post two pieces of art per month outside of October. So much the better, honestly. Posting once or twice per week this year has been fun, but it doesn't really allow me to spend the time I need for study and experimentation.
