Disco Elysium, Part Two
Jan. 29th, 2023 08:48 amThis is still a difficult game to play on the Switch, but a walkthrough helps a lot. It’s also useful to imagine each conversation as a battle, and to save before you talk to anyone.
By the way, I usually don’t identify with fictional characters, but I like Harry a lot. I too have been in situations in which I’m so hungover that I can’t recognize my face in the mirror, and then when I go down to the hotel lobby there’s someone waiting for me who expects me to do some sort of job I’m completely clueless about. This is how I met one of my best friends, actually. I was like, “Who are you,” and he was like, “We talked for three hours last night.”
I’ve (mostly) cut back on the drinking since then, but the opening of Disco Elysium gave me flashbacks. I literally had to put the game down and walk to CVS to buy some Tums to deal with the phantom acid reflex.
Anyway, I feel bad about this, but I also think it’s useful to turn off the voice acting. It’s very good, but it’s distracting in a game where there’s a lot of text and a lot going on in general.
