2023 Writing Log, Part Twenty
Jun. 10th, 2023 10:18 am- I posted the second chapter of The Demon King on AO3 (here). I rewrote this chapter from scratch multiple times throughout the past year, and it’s a huge relief to call it finished and move on.
- I posted my story for Fright: A Classic Horror Movie Fanzine on AO3 (here). “The Girl in the Screen at the End of the World” is a series of four vignettes about Sadako picking off the last living humans after the Ring curse has destroyed modern civilization. This story has elements of horror, but it’s very gentle.
- I posted the second installment of Seeded Ground, a short botanical horror comic, on Tumblr (here). Again, my goal was to draw it, post it, and keep going.
- I finished “The Annotated Kitab al-Azif,” my Lovecraftian monster romance story. It needs to be edited, of course, but it felt amazing to write the final sentence of this story after two months of work.
I also contacted half a dozen artists to request commissions of spot illustrations for the stories in my upcoming short horror fiction zine, Terrible People. Fingers crossed that at least one or two of these commissions will work out!
