2024 Writing Log, Part Four
Jan. 28th, 2024 09:49 amI said in my last writing log that I caught a cold, but it was actually some sort of horrid respiratory syncytial virus that had me in bed with a fever. I spent the week sleeping in between bouts of struggling to drag myself to work, but I’m doing my best to get back on my feet. Not much to report this week.
- I edited Chapter 4 of my Tears of the Kingdom Future AU story Lay the Gods to Rest and posted it on AO3 (here). This chapter was fun to write but required a lot of editing. I invented an arcane variation on chess but decided it was best not to dwell on the rules.
- In Tears of the Kingdom, there’s a lovely hidden water garden on the roof of the Temple of Time. Based on a few screenshots, I did a study of one of its ponds, and I posted the piece on Tumblr (here). I’m not sure I understand how architecture works, but I did my best. It looks okay, maybe? Sort of? Idk, I’m getting there.
- I did another video game tree study in which I did my best to recreate a standard tree from A Link to the Past, as well as a tree from the Dark World. I couldn’t find good references, but I think I was able to create fairly accurate renditions, which I posted on Tumblr (here).
