I'm really going out of my way to embrace the aesthetic of uselessness these days. Like, I'm going to find all 900 Korok seeds, and this will benefit no one.
I've been reading The Nib on and off, and I think I'd like to start drawing stuff that's a little more political than Zelda fan art. I'm exhausted by the current political climate, and commenting on it seems simultaneously asinine and beyond my level of skill. Once the administration changes, though, I want to have stored up enough energy to do things.
So right now I'm collecting pictures of Tokyo and posting nonsense comics and drawings of flowers on my art account. I'll make critical work when I don't feel like I'm constantly under attack. That's fair, right?
As for the review, I think what I'm going to do is post a blunt plot summary illustrated by actual quotes from the text. That way, I don't have to offer my actual opinion about anything. I'm also going to let the press's PR guy know that this is what I'm going to do, kind of, like, as a courtesy? I sort of want to offer to review another of the press's books instead, but I also feel like I should stand up for myself and set stronger boundaries instead of apologizing or trying to make concessions.
