And I really do think time and luck is all you need to be "successful" in terms of getting published or gaining a reasonable following on social media. (Idk about making money or Great Art, but that's someone else's problem honestly.) You've probably seen this too, but literally every popular artist I follow on Tumblr who answers asks about this says the same thing. I have a feeling that this is partially PR and doesn't reflect the nuances of their real feelings on the matter, but there's probably some truth to the idea.
Then again, I've also seen people in various fields saying that about 85% of "success" is directly due to personal connections, but it's nice to know that there's still a 15% percent chance of success for an unknown writer and relative outsider like myself, and taking "talent" out of the equation sure does make everything much more chill.
