So there I was, sitting in the shade of a parking lot in New Jersey, ready to write some porn.

I’ve got the basic idea, and I’ve got the basic choreography, and I’m right there at the keyboard.

But friends, it’s difficult.

I’m like, how did they get in this situation, and what does the room look like, and what sort of relationship do they have, and what is the symbolism inherent in the lore associated with the characters, and.

And this is just supposed to be a 2k-word dick sucking fic. Goddammit.

I think the solution is to put all the meta ideas in a separate document and then post them on Tumblr if they’re worth sharing. I used to care a lot about things like “community” and “conversation” on that site, but I’ve found that I’m much happier just treating it like the garbage bin it is.

Literally me every time I sit down to write PWP smut. Suddenly there's emotional buildup to aid the sexual tension and Too Much Introspective Nonsense before the characters involved smooch, let alone fuck, and WHY IS THERE NOW A PLOT???

At the same time? I love this shit in a smutty fic. Like yes, I'm already invested in the pairing and having them bang, but adding layers to their intentions and characterizations along with the world they're being filthy in? That's the delicious frosting on the cake. I am forever surprised by the comments on any of my smut fics where people remark on the character voices or even the worldbuilding along with Character A getting railed by Character B. They really eat that shit up.

But honestly, writing porn in public is where it's at. You enjoy that shade and indulge in some dick sucking! 💕

I enjoy that sort of thing too, and I especially appreciate it in your stories. I have a nice backlog of fanfic that I've been assembling since... January... and I'm very much looking forward to reading it over the summer.

My experience is that the porn I write tends to be very hit or miss on AO3, and I don't want to put a lot of effort into these stories. I'm therefore treating like skill-development sketches. I'd like to work on speed and stamina, which

okay maybe that's not an appropriate thing to say in the context of porn, but

it would be nice to be able to consistently produce medium-quality work without having to worry that everything needs to be a portfolio piece.

Idk, and sometimes things that are less expensive are better.
