Now that I think about it, I haven't played a walking sim in a while, but I used to really enjoy them.
There were two in particular that I wanted to try but never did: The Unfinished Swan (made by the same people who did Edith Finch) and White Night. Both games got mediocre reviews, but I don't know whether this was because game critics used to hate walking sims or because these two games in particular were hostile and unintuitive (like The Stanley Parable). Still, I remember needing to use a walkthrough at several points during Firewatch and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of either game.
Everything is affordable and available on the Switch these days, so maybe it's time to give a few more walking sims a chance.
