I didn’t have much free time or privacy while visiting family during the past two weeks. Writing was impossible, and the only thing I could draw were marker sketches for people’s children to use as coloring pages. This is all I have to report:

- My essay about the shifting fan reception of The Wind Waker was published on Sidequest (here). Pitching this project resulted in nothing but solid rejections for four months straight. I’m glad it finally found a home.

- And lo and behold, my essay was featured on Critical Distance (here). I was so happy when I saw this that I literally cried.

- I played some free horror(ish) games on Itchio and wrote a handful of short reviews. I just posted a list of links to the games and my reviews (here on Dreamwidth).

- The artist I commissioned to illustrate my story (on AO3 here) about Varré and Mohg from Elden Ring finished the piece and posted it on Twitter (here). It’s absolutely phenomenal. The artist really didn’t have to go that hard, but I’m not complaining. I had a great experience working with them, and I can’t recommend them enough to anyone in the market for a(n affordable!) cover commission.

In case you missed it: Syria bombed Israel, Israel bombed Gaza, Gaza bombed Israel, and Jordan bombed Syria. Between one thing and another, I managed to make it out okay. It’s good to be alive.
