2023 Writing Log, Part Eighteen
May. 26th, 2023 07:29 am- I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, but I finally collected my “Cosmic Horror Zelda” minicomic into a zine called She Came from the Stars. The minicomic is only ten pages/panels long, but I added some extra notes and character designs at the end. You can download it for free from Itchio (here).
- Hyrule Apocrypha, an illustrated Legend of Zelda fanfic anthology, is now open for preorders on BigCartel (here). I created a preview for my piece and posted it on Tumblr (here). Because the emphasis of this zine is on writing, I don’t think it’s going to attract much attention, but it’s really good.
- It took me all of a week after Tears of the Kingdom was released to write fanfic, a short canon-compliant series of platonic Zelda/Ganondorf missing scenes. The story is called “Many Dark Ambitions,” and I posted it on AO3 (here).
- I’ve resumed work on “The Annotated Kitab al-Azif,” my Lovecraftian monster romance story. I’m not sure if it’s any good, but I’m enjoying myself. I edited the first two “chapters” (of roughly 1.4k words each) and finished the third.
- I wrote a script and drew thumbnails for an eleven-page botanical horror comic called “Seeded Ground.” Again, I’m not sure if it’s good, but it’s manageable, and that’s really important to me right now.
- I’ve been going through a bit of an art block, but I’ve been doing a lot of sketches. None of them are worth posting, unfortunately. What can you do. I’ll get back on track eventually.
…and also, I sent in the paperwork to renew my passport. It turns out that you can now be officially nonbinary on federal documents. Huzzah!!
