Experts say ‘cocaine sharks’ may be feasting on drugs dumped off Florida
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/22/cocaine-sharks-drugs-florida-coast

In their research, conducted during six days at sea in the Florida Keys, the ecologically sensitive island chain off the state’s southern tip, Fanara and British marine biologist Tom Hird observed sharks exhibiting peculiar behaviors.

Also:

Florida serves as a staging point for large quantities of drugs making their way into the US from South America, and plastic-wrapped bundles of cocaine are often lost at sea or tossed overboard by traffickers being pursued by law enforcement. Last month, the US Coast Guard announced it had recovered more than $186m of illegal narcotics from the waters of the Caribbean and southern Florida.

First of all, this "research" sounds like it was conducted as a television stunt, and second, I think the point the marine biologists are trying to make is that we should be careful about what we dump in the ocean.

Still, I can't help but imagine that the Bermuda Triangle is now thoroughly infested with cocaine sharks. Maybe they should go hang out with the Comic-Con cruise.
