rynling: (Cool Story Bro)

I’m starting to get curious about the overarching story of Bloodborne, so I tried listening to the Dark Souls podcast series on the game. The hosts are intimately concerned with the minutia of gameplay mechanics, which I find excruciatingly boring.

I don’t mean to come off as an elitist, but Bloodborne is nowhere near as difficult as Dark Souls. Your character is built like a ninja right out of the box, and your starting weapon is immaculately tuned for mass murder. It makes no difference that one pistol has a fraction of a point of higher arcane scaling than another. If you’re having trouble, you can put on an audiobook and grind a few levels like an adult.

Disclaimer: I realize that the podcast hosts were playing the game right when it came out, and that they were under a crunch to put out multiple episodes every week. They also had to be considerate to their guests, who mainly seem to be gameplay-focused streamers. And also, Bloodborne was released in 2015, and we’ve all grown and changed since then. Still, there are probably better places to search for lore. And I have every intention of putting in the work to do just that.

Anyway, after Cherry cleared out most of Old Yharnam and opened a shortcut back to the central courtyard, I realized that you can actually climb to the top of the clocktower and confront the man shooting at you with a gatling gun. It turns out the bastard also has a sword. He’s strong, and he took down Cherry in three hits.

I’ll come back for him, though. I know where he lives.
