Bloodborne Plot Notes

I found an amazing summary of Bloodborne's story that can be read like a novel. The writer agrees with me that Rom was once human. Which is neat. All things considered, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to be a giant moss-covered spider living in a beautiful lake surrounded by dense forest.
Anyway, it took me a week, but I finally figured out how to kill her.
(1) Get your character to Level 80. I didn't realize this, but Rom is supposed to be a tough boss leading up to the endgame.
(2) Kill Willem, the defenseless old man looking out over the lake. He drops a rune that you can equip to boost your magic defense. Don't feel bad about murdering him; he had it coming.
(3) You can summon two NPCs to help with the fight against Rom. They won't survive for long, but you're going to need all the help you can get with crowd control.
(4) You don't need to use a special weapon; your default saw cleaver is perfect for the job. Being able to slice quickly and in a wide arc is key.
(5) It helps to use bolt paper on your weapon. The electric charge will prevent the smaller spiders from retaliating after you attack them, and it will cause slightly more damage to Rom with each hit.
(6) Kill all of the initial batch of smaller spiders. They won't regenerate, and Rom won't attack you while you're killing them. Once Rom is alone, you can go to town on her. When she begins to teleport, keep attacking. You won't stop her, but you'll want to grab any extra hits you can get.
(7) Rom will teleport twice thereafter, generating two new batches of smaller spiders. As quickly as you can, kill the entirety of the first wave of spiders while they're still separated from the second batch.
(8) Start killing the second batch, but only three or four, enough to create small gaps in the phalanx protecting Rom. Rom will begin casting magic missiles at you, so you'll need to keep moving.
(9) When you spot an opening, run in and get two or three hits. The small spiders will move quickly to attack you, so don't get greedy. Get in, get out, and keep circling.
(10) When Rom is down to 1/6 health, she'll start thrashing and using magic nonstop. You'll now be in a DPS race. Playing defensively will get you killed, so this is when you'll want to use all of your resources, including your blood vials. Try to stay at full health if you can.
(11) All of the smaller spiders will disappear when Rom dies, so it's best to stay in place and finish her off as soon as it seems possible to do so.
(12) Enjoy the cutscene as the Blood Moon rises. It makes no fucking sense but looks cool as hell.
I understand that many people experience a sense of accomplishment after defeating such a difficult boss, but I don't feel that it's really necessary for Rom to be as hard as she is. Most of what it took for me to defeat her was level grinding, and I had to do several hours of it. Ah well. Moving on.
