It is exciting! I recently tried to replay the FFVI Pixel Remaster, and it's showing its age. I'm looking forward to seeing the same general vibes and aesthetic with updated gameplay and quality-of-life considerations.
Also, I love when veteran directors are given free rein to create whatever they want, even if (especially if) it's weird and messy. To give a comparable example, my impression of The Boy and the Heron wasn't that it's perfect, but rather that I wish more anime movies were allowed to be so strange and self-indulgent. I'd love to see more of that in games as well.
