- I’m still chipping away at the third chapter of The Last Green Knight, a Zelda x Arthuriana crossover. I realized that I was struggling with a scene I didn’t want to write, so I deleted it from the outline and continued on my merry way. Problem solved.
- I started writing the “Guerilla Gardening with Aerith Gainsborough” story I outlined earlier this year, and I’m having a lovely time.
- I also started writing an original short story called “Prunus Daemoniacus” about a grad student who gets romanced by the spirit of a cherry tree. I’m planning on submitting this story to a monster romance zine (on Tumblr here).
- I wrote the first 2/5 of an essay about disability called “In Praise of Moss.” I posted part of it on Dreamwidth (here).
- My review of a just-released graphic novel called Hunger’s Bite has been posted on Comics Beat (here). If you’re into 1920s supernatural fantasy, this one is for you. I was pleasantly surprised by how hard the artist leaned into an anti-capitalist message, and I appreciate how they 100% own and support their stance in their author bio. The kids are all right.
- Soon the sun will set after 7pm. Soon!! In the meantime, I drew a sweet little Korok sitting under a sakura tree and posted it on Tumblr (here).
This week has been rough. I’m no longer sick, but I’m still weak from spending so much time in bed. I’m at a point where if I can’t write a paragraph, I’m happy with a sentence. Slow but steady.
