2026 Writing Log, Part Thirteen
Apr. 3rd, 2026 09:05 am- I’m still working on Chapter 10 of The Archives of Hyrule, a Tears of the Kingdom Modern AU about magical artifacts. In this section of the chapter, Zelda hardcore hates on techbros in general and Ganon in particular. I also invented some Tumblr-style academic discourse about magic, with Zelda basically saying that Ganon comes off as the sort of business school douchebag who never took a single Humanities class in college.
- I did another edit on Chapter 4 of The Archives of Hyrule and posted it on AO3 (here). This is the first Ganon POV chapter. He seems relatively normal here, but don’t worry – he will get worse!
- I made a portrait of the story’s Ganon character and posted it on Tumblr (here). I continue to have trouble drawing men, and this really didn’t turn out how I wanted it to. Still, I’m a fan of the horror-movie red lighting.
- Now that the sun is setting after 6pm, I got started on my “The Postapocalyptic Green Utopia of Breath of the Wild” essay. This week I wrote a first draft of the introduction. Yay 🌱
- I finally finished my review of Delay, an anthology of SE Asian comics that’s coming out at the end of April from the Singaporean comics micropublisher Difference Engine. Reviewing anthologies is always tough, and I faced additional challenges with this one due to the low quality of the PDF review copy. I think I managed to do an okay job in the end, though.
- I’m still working on the academic book review. Slow but steady!
- I also sent another agent query for my novel this week. With each query, the material only becomes more polished; so, if nothing else, I’m hoping this is good EXP farming.
- Around this time last year, I commissioned the magical Maxyvert to create an illustration of a sakura tree spirit for an original short story. To celebrate the arrival of spring, they posted the art on Tumblr (here), and it has lovely and atmospheric misty spring evening vibes.
- I also did a quick sakura painting of my own! It’s nothing special, but it offered a much-needed break on a very stressful day. I put it on Tumblr (here).
The weather is warm, and the sakura are in bloom. It’s going to take time to recover from this year’s horrible winter, but I’m getting there. 🌸

Date: 2026-04-04 03:04 pm (UTC)And "sunlight will fix me" is what I keep telling myself. I know there is so much more going on than the weather... but it couldn't hurt, right? I hope good news and good resolutions to outstanding problems comes our way soon.
