I haven't pre-ordered P5! It looks good and well worth the wait, but 1) I don't have a PS3 again / a PS4 yet, and 2) I pretty much always get games digitally when the opportunity is there, so there's little reason not to just purchase the game on release day, since I usually can't download it until then anyway.
When "The Zodiac Age" was announced, I knew with an almost physical sensation of pure dread that, in the not-that-distant future, I'd be forking over a few hundred dollars for a PS4 and said game. It's just going to happen. There won't be any choice involved. Ivalice will just...beckon. And I'll go.
Lots of the games are good! Didn't you have a Wii U? I think 7 (just called Fire Emblem in the states, since it was the first one to make it over here) and 8 (The Sacred Stones) are both available for that console's Virtual, uh, Console. Or you can resort to piracy. I'd recommend one of the two newer games (Awakening or Fates, both for the 3DS) for a series newcomer, but, like...it's $40 for either of them.
