Getting Shit Done, Part Three

rynlingThis is what I did yesterday:
- I performed triage on my email inbox, filing things away in order of urgency. I now have five folders labeled with the day of the week I will handle them. I spent longer than I should have responding to yesterday's batch of emails, but what can you do.
- I knocked down a freelance editing job. It took all morning and did not make me happy. People underestimate the amount of work that editors do.
- Husbando took the train down to DC to visit for Thanksgiving, so I picked him up and ran some errands: Trader Joe's, regular grocery store, Target, car wash, Jiffy Lube, Honeybaked Ham, liquor store. It's nice doing these things with Husbando since no one ever gives him any shit. I'm not sure whether this is because he is who he is (meaning, from a culture in which people tend to be extremely aggressive) or simply because he's male, but it's useful to have him around. He's doing most of the cooking for tomorrow, but I still have to clean the apartment for the people who are coming over.
- This is not writing but it took all afternoon and most of the evening, goddamn. Basically all of the above is an excuse why I didn't write. Writing is hard.
- I wrote a good 350 words of the newest chapter of "On Calmer Tides." This is a Tetra POV chapter, and Tetra usually writes herself, but I was super tired okay.
- I wrote two paragraphs of the contemporary AU Zelgan fic, which I have been thinking of as "The Seat of the Empire." I should probably change the title to something that's less about postcolonialism and more indicative of the fact that this is basically porn with plot.
Three days in and already I'm behind schedule, oh man.
