(5) What is the purpose of the Al Bhed Primer items?
(6) How does Final Fantasy X convey a sense of distance traveled?

Although it has two possible "correct" answers (Rikku or Lulu), a lot of students were unable to answer the fourth question. I think what may have happened is that, by this point in the semester, some of them have started relying on abbreviated playthrough videos. I told them that they should still consult the strategy guide regarding the gameplay elements if they choose this route through the game, but it seems they've let this slide. I therefore started giving informal verbal quizzes regarding gameplay during class so that everyone is up to speed.

FFX is a very long game and I think I would probably start watching Let's Plays if I were a busy student too!

I'm posting these quizzes several weeks behind where we currently are in the class, but I remember that week's assignment as being especially grueling, partially because each random encounter in Home (with Guado soldiers who summon powerful monsters) takes more than five minutes. Right now I'm very close to the end of the game (I'm on Mount Gagazet) but I'm also at a point where I want to start watching a playthrough too tbh.
There are indeed a lot of missables in Home, but the absolute cruelest missable in FFX is the Al Bhed Primer XXII, which is in a tiny corridor called "Priests' Passage" right between the wedding scenes and the Bevelle Cloister of Trails, which can't be exited once you enter.
As much as I like to wax nostalgic about the good old days, there are a lot of things about this era of JRPGs that I do not miss even a little bit.
