2017 Weekly Writing Log Part Twenty-Seven

rynling- I posted the second chapter of The Price of Wisdom.
- I translated another page of Hyrule Encyclopedia.
- I wrote some self-righteous Zelda meta like a nerd.
- I wrote another stupid Wind Waker shitpost.I worked really hard on this one.
- I drew a shitty illustration based on a fic that someone gifted to me about two years ago. It's so bad that I actually lost count of the number of mistakes I made, but my goal was to create something as quickly as it came into my mind, and in that I succeeded.
- I drew another shitty illustration in response to a mutual's shitpost. Honestly I don't care if she likes it, because I'm still trying to get back at her for the porn she drew in response to one of my own shitposts.
- I signed up for digital art classes with the Oatley Academy because I want my illustrations to be less shitty.
- My ultimate goal is for people to be happy when I draw something for them, like this Ganondorf saltycatfish drew for me, which literally made me weep with joy.

Date: 2017-07-29 04:26 pm (UTC)I will be real with you, me doing art is just a ruse to get people to read my fic. Based on my super scientific study of being awed and fascinated by other people's success, I think there are two possible factors (aside from dumb luck) involved in a certain fic getting a ton of attention. The first is that the writer can quickly and consistently produce long chapters in an ongoing story, and the second is that the writer is a relatively popular artist.* I am entirely incapable of the former, but I am delusional enough to think that the latter may be within the realm of possibility.
It's also a dream of mine to be able to illustrate other people's fic. Honestly I don't know why more artists don't do this? It seems like it would be a lot of fun.
* There is actually a third possible factor, which is that a writer produces smutfic catering to a very specific kink. I am not above walking this particular path, but... Idk, this seems like something that might work better if it came from the, um, heart.

Date: 2017-07-29 07:32 pm (UTC)I got the most beautiful illustration for one of my Persona 3 fics and it just slays me how perfect it was for everything. As someone with all the visual artistic talent of a potato, I just press my face against the window when I see gorgeous art.
