Training Montage, Part Nine

rynlingOne of my favorite artists on Tumblr just posted a nice tutorial in which she references using an excellent set of brushes. This was so useful to me, and when I tried it out for myself it was like magic.
I also changed the theme of my art-only Tumblr to "Avenue de Paris," which is one of this set from STJN. I'm still playing around with the theme, but I will eventually get to where I'd like to be.
Back when I used to be a musician, I would get annoyed by people who were obsessed with equipment and presentation. The way I saw it, that sort of thing doesn't matter as long as you have skill; a good musician is still a good musician no matter who made the instrument they play. Meanwhile, visual art is all about presentation, and so much of the joy of it for me has been learning to find and work with the right tools.
