I’ve been thinking about signing up for Get Your Words Out 2019. I’m garbage with wordcount goals, but I’d like to hold myself accountable for spending fifteen minutes a day working on my novel. I’d also like to spend ten minutes a day working on comics, which is not technically writing but is still storytelling, damn it.

Also, I think I enjoy writing about writing more than I enjoy actually writing, so there’s that as well.

Fiction writing is lonely work, and I could use all the encouragement I can get. I am a shambling mess of psychological complexes held together by scotch tape and twine; and, although I’m constitutionally unable to believe in myself, it might be nice to cheer on other people.

DO IT DO IT DO IT :D

I'm also garbage with word count goals, so I'm excited to do GYWO for 2019 :D and like you said, it's nice to have encouragement and support and solidarity with other writers. It can be such solitary thing, being a writer. I'm all for this! But regardless if you pledge or not, I'm a fan of you writing anything, so best of luck! ♥

Bah, forgot to mention - I also signed up to do [community profile] inkingitout which is like GYWO, but more lowkey and chill with a weekly check-in thing to talk with other writers. Double the accountability! *shakes pompoms*

I like the GYWO challenges that require you to write x number of days per year instead of x number of words. It means you can cut down on the tedium of tracking your word counts. I don't think I can do it this year but I signed up for it last year and it did help me write, at least for the first half of the year when I wasn't too busy.

I love GYWO! I did the habit goal for 2018 and it's been brilliant for me; all previous years I focused on word count and that was not so great after a while, but the daily habit is explicitly editing-and-outlining friendly and it took a lot of pressure off.
