Deep South Aesthetic

- Pine trees
- Stray dogs
- Stray children
- Huge piles of trash
- All trash all the time
- Everywhere
- Racism

I think this is going to be the last Christmas I spend in rural Georgia with my mother. It's not that anything major happened, it's just that the small evils finally became too much to bear. People talk about the Deep South like it's all garden parties and mint juleps, but it's a genuinely disturbing part of the world. It's taken me awhile to come to a place of understanding and acceptance, but I think I'm fine if I never see or speak to my family again. I have quit bad business before, but it's never felt so good to say good-bye, get in my car, close the door behind me, and drive the fuck out of there.

Well, I for one like red dirt. But yeah, it is what it is. That's the best I can say at this point in my life.

I also like red dirt, and I find both pine trees and piles of trash aesthetically pleasing. It's really the culture that does it for me, though.

I don't know what this says about me as a person, but that photo is so heart-warming. Basking in the light of a gas station live bait sign, I feel loved.

I have been so tempted to post some of our local live bait signs online but I didn't want to out myself anymore than I already have. Lets just say you will never want for bait round these parts.

I've only been down south a handful of times, most recently being a road trip to Atlanta for Dragon Con last year and wow that was some hardcore culture shock for two Bostonians. I remember there being this yellow billboard that just said JESUS and nothing else (which one of my friends proceeded to photoshop two more into the picture so it said JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY). It was a wild trip.
