Ashe reacts to Al-Cid, Balthier reacts to Ashe reacting to Al-Cid, and Fran reacts to Balthier reacting to Ashe reacting to Al-Cid.
I like the Zelda series a whole lot, but it has never even remotely approached this level of storytelling.
I just finished up the Pharos events at the end of FFXII. My party is massively over-leveled, and there's nothing preventing me going ahead and finishing the game. Once I beat a game, I generally don't pick it back up again for a significant period of time; so, before I board the Bahamut, I want to:
- Complete the Phon Coast Hunt Club rare game sidequest
- Hunt all of the "regular" marks
- Get the Ultima esper
- Get the Zodiark esper
I don't think I've done this on any of my previous playthroughs. If I get stuck, I think I'm just going to beat the game and maybe try again on the Switch version when it comes out over the summer.

Date: 2019-02-25 02:50 am (UTC)I can't remember her equipment setup outside of Excalibur, but she had some stuff on her that doubled her white magic power or something. Plus accidental berserk. Plus haste. Yeah, Zodiark didn't stand a change.
Also not mentioned, I sent Vaan in solo as a decoy to proc Zodiark's bullshit intro spell and after Vaan died, I rotated in the A Team.Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the mountain that is my FFXII tag :DALSO ALSO YES I HAVE SO MANY FEELS ABOUT ALL OF THIS IN REGARDS TO ULTIMA AHHHHHH. I mean, she was in charge of helping people pass on after death and also reincarnate I think, too? I just imagine her being like "....nope" and then there was undead everywhere. So many feels. The XII Espers don't get enough praise. They're amazing. I could read a whole novel series about them.
