Support artists with similar styles online. If you're broke, you don't HAVE to commission them or contribute to their Kickstarters, but sending a kind email or leaving them a pleasant message can really do a lot to encourage them.
I love indie artists and convention artist alleys, and I got into Tumblr almost five years ago to stay current with people that I met at cons. After following certain artists for years, I do feel as if I've gotten to know them a little, even if I never interact with them, so I do occasionally leave fan mail or messages of support. And, you know, I never get a response. When deviantART was still a thing, all but the most mega-popular of artists would generally respond to lengthier comments with at least a generic, cut-and-pasted "thanks," so this kind of silence is weird to me.
Meanwhile, I really and truly suck at responding to comments left on my own fic, so there's that.
