Super Princess Peach, Part One
Aug. 16th, 2015 10:02 amI'm putting a lot of intellectual labor into my playthrough of Twilight Princess. I've been doing online research, taking notes, and typing up my impressions, some of which can run to 1,000 words for two hours of gameplay.
This is a lot of fun, and it's obviously very engaging, but I've been getting cravings for a brain-free playing experience. My usual go-to when I want to veg out in front of the tv for two or three evenings is A Link to the Past, but I'm already up to my chin in Zelda, so that's not going to work.
I was thinking that it's been about five years since my last playthrough of Secret of Mana, but then I remembered how many people get killed off in that game, and how no one wants to fight the Mana Beast, and how the Sprite dies at the end, and suddenly I was less enthusiastic.
One of the releases I missed during my "I'm too cool for games" period is Super Princess Peach. I recently came across an interesting essay briefly referencing how it's not considered "a real game" in some circles, and it was like I was Carl Sagan and the galaxy exploded into being in front of my eyes.
So I ordered a copy (for $60 on Amazon, holy fuck, but whatever). Hopefully it's not too difficult, and hopefully its story of two lovers playing silly dominance games doesn't have too many emotional ups and downs. Or hopefully it does? Either way is good.
