rynling: (Needs More Zelda)
This weekend is Anime USA, a convention that's held every Halloween in my neighborhood in Washington DC. A few friends came down this year, and we had a nice hotel room party last night. I no longer enjoy drinking the way I used to, but I'm always up for pharmaceuticals, and someone convinced me to take half an Ambien. I've heard that you become more of your "authentic self" under the influence of Ambien, which is why it tends to get people in trouble. I was in good company, so I thought, Why not?

Someone had hooked up a Wii to the room's television, and they had a Virtual Console version of Ocarina of Time downloaded. One of the save files opened to the beginning of the Water Temple, which I apparently played from start to finish while talking about the differences in water treatment facilities in New York and DC and making a lot of fish puns and references to m/m ships that were popular in the early 2010s.

I then went to the hotel room bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth, put on someone's kigurumi, and fell promptly asleep.

I woke up this morning completely rested. Somebody had to tell me what happened, because I have no memory of anything. I didn't believe what they told me, but they showed me the save file and the notes someone took on my lecture (which contained correct information, surprisingly).

So now I have three questions. First, wow. Second, why can't I do any of this when I'm sober? Third, anime cons, man. Anime cons.
