NEET Girl Date Night is a short visual novel that you can download for free from Itchio. It took me exactly 22 minutes to play, and I really enjoyed it. This isn't so much "a dating game" as it is a short story about social pressure, mental health, and healing. There's a nice touch of light humor, and I especially appreciate the thought that went into creating the two in-universe anime the girl is a fan of, both of which I would love to watch.
I didn't know what to expect before I went into this game, so I searched for reviews. This was a mistake. Despite its humorously foul language and somewhat heavy themes, NEET Girl Date Night is a very sweet game, but people have been tearing it to shreds for mean-spirited personal reasons. Like, if the girl you're talking to is trans, as (very) vaguely suggested by a casual two-panel comic posted on the creator's Twitter account, then it's transphobic not to make that explicitly clear to the player, etc etc etc.
Haters gonna hate. NEET Girl Date Night is a fun game with clever writing and interesting art. And it's short, and it's free. And if the creator has a bunch of followers on Twitter and Twitch, good for them.
