I started thinking about how nice it must be to be in a fandom that a relatively large number of people are involved in and care about
I swear I feel this at least on a monthly basis, if not a weekly basis. I look at my AO3 stats from last year and how my most popular fic in terms of hits and kudos and so forth was my relatively small multichapter MCU fic right after Endgame came out. I wish I could call that home, but I find myself more attracted to what ends up being smaller, quieter fandoms and rarepairs. Which is frustrating for its own reasons, but I don't know if I'd be genuinely happy if I contributed to a massive, popular fandom.
I'm with you in the VII boat, too. It got me into the FF series, but isn't my favorite, though I still find it enjoyable enough to write the occasional fic (which is mostly Let Someone Smooch and/or Snuggle With Tifa: The Fic). I'll be curious if any of my past fics get a boost in attention when the remake comes out. I know my XII fics did when Zodiac Age came out. Also I'm eager about whatever drabbles you do for VII, so consider me intrigued :3c
