Hades Redux, Part Two

It took me 24 runs, but I finished Hades for the first time last night.
The ending, such as it was, was underwhelming. I assume the game expects you to finish it multiple times to get more of the story. It only takes about 45 minutes to do a complete run, so we’ll see. I think it’s probably time for me to consult some sort of FAQ or walkthrough to get a better sense of how many times I have to clear the game to get to the end credits.
The weapon I ended up favoring is the shield, which has both a melee attack and a ranged attack. It also has a defensive function; but, since your character is invincible while he dashes, I’ve found that dashing is much more effective than standing in place with the shield raised. Since it’s almost impossible not to take damage, you have to play an offensive game, and the trick to surviving is to upgrade your attacks so that you can kill your foes as quickly as possible before the hits you take start adding up.
Although he’s technically the antagonist, my favorite character is Hades himself. What I like about him is that, while the other characters come and go as they please, Hades is always there at the start (and end, presumably?) of every run, and he touches base with you at various waypoints as well. He’s not openly supportive of your character in a way that perhaps he should be, but he always gives you his time and attention and helps you out with small gestures. He’s a grumpy asshole, but he clearly loves his son, and I appreciate that.
Actually, I lied. My favorite character is the giant dog. Cerberus is best boy.
