rynlingIdk, so much of fandom discourse seems very silly when you take a few steps back.
Like, I'm not a "proshipper" or "pro-sh1p" or whatever. I don't think it's fun to argue on Twitter. I'm too old for that nonsense. I'm just a normal person who thinks it's a bad idea to send death threats to strangers on the internet. It's not that deep.

Date: 2021-09-19 07:09 pm (UTC)I got roped into some dumb discourse literally this morning when I checked my phone in bed. I had to explain to my boyfriend why I sighed and chucked my phone into the laundry pile and he was like "...... I'm going to make you coffee and we can watch something, because that's dumb wtf." And then we did. And then I got to laugh about the high school antics of "you can't sit with us so HA" with some other writers later who were also like "lolwtfno" and moved along.
Life is too short and stressful to get into pissing matches with utter strangers online. I like to think the people who actually matter to me would have, you know, an actual adult conversation with me if something popped up instead of throwing a tantrum. And if I'm wrong? Welp, gotta love that block button 💕

Date: 2021-09-20 12:25 pm (UTC)I didn't follow this closely, but I was frustrated by the recent mess over on the Multifandom Drabble comm. To me at least, it looked like there was a small misunderstanding that got blown out of proportion. I understand why the original two parties were upset, and how maybe the mods could have dealt with the issue differently, but it really seems like something that could have been handled through three or four private messages, a round of apologies, and no hurt feelings. And now the comm is gone? I loved that exchange.
"You can't talk to people who just want to argue" was a tough lesson for me to learn, but my life has been better since I heard The Good News About Our Lord And Savior The Block Button.

Even trying to keep up with it in real time was exhausting and I still don't fully understand how that 20 car pile up happened, but it was awful to see something that could've easily been sorted out behind the scenes (you know, talk to people - novel idea, I'm sure) just... blow up.
