Seasonal Affectation

This is a friendly reminder to myself not to self-isolate during the holidays! I always get depressed around this time of year, mainly because of the lack of sunlight. I’ve also noticed that a lot of people take long breaks after October and November drawing and writing challenges, which means that social media is always super quiet at the end of the year.
I therefore want to schedule time during the day to be online, even if that time is spent passively liking and sharing art. I know a lot of people turn to social media as a distraction from the stress caused by holidays, and I hope that me keeping a steady schedule of posting chill art and memes can be at least a small comfort to someone who might need it.
I’m planning on taking a break soon, though. One of my resolutions for the upcoming year is to take a big step back from social media and devote more of my energy and attention to working on larger and more complicated projects that will take more time to complete. In order not to feel compelled to be constantly productive, I need to shake myself out of the social media mindset. I’ve got a queue of “content” scheduled for December, but after that I need to get off Twitter and get gud.

Best of luck with getting through the seasonal depression (same tho like damn it's bad right now) AND working on something awesome! I'm always happy to see you pop up on my dash and TL, but I fully support you doing whatever you need to do with your projects. I know it'll be worth the wait! 💕

Date: 2021-11-24 05:55 pm (UTC)I WILL LEARN TO DRAW BACKGROUNDS.
IT WILL HAPPEN.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your own presence on social media. Tumblr gets so slow every year around Christmas, which is always when I need it most. During 2019 and 2020, you were just about the only person on my timeline during late December, and your good taste and good sense got me through some tough times. Seriously, thank you. I am so fucking happy you're on the birdsite and making it more gentle and beautiful, you have no idea.

I'm glad my feeds have brought you joy in these sometimes really lonely and depressive times of the year 💕 I've got like, 260+ posts queued up on Tumblr as we speak and I'm always down for sharing pretty images and words on both the hell site and birdsite. We shall survive the end of the year! I got you covered! 😭💕
