2022 Writing Log 03
Jan. 29th, 2022 12:00 pmI spent this week slowly plugging away at various projects.
- I finished my revised plot outline of The Demon King. Nice! I also got started on a new chapter. It’s slow going, but I’ll pick up steam eventually.
- I’m continuing to work on my original horror short story “The Lotus Girl.” It is very slow going, with me writing no more than a paragraph every day. But I’m getting there. I decided to go with the murder ending, by the way.
- I drew a Bulbasaur terrarium to use as my icon for the writer profile for the Your Journey Awaits pokémon zine. I posted the illustration on Tumblr (here). I’m still working on my story, bit by bit.
- I’m working on three Korok illustrations to submit to a giant “March of the Koroks” group project hosted by the Zelda Creators group on Twitter. I posted my first Korok on Tumblr (here).
- I finished the second wizard drawing in my Wiztober series. I was thinking that I would do one of these drawings a week, but I guess it makes more sense to do one every two weeks as I work on other projects. I’ll try to finish as many as I can. Anyway, I also finished the linework for the third illustration. I made my husband pose for me, and he was very flattered despite the fact that I was only taking a photo of his left hand.
- I’m working on my second-ever piece with a full interior background. The first piece was entirely flat, but this one uses minor elements of perspective. Trying to figure out these perspective elements makes me feel stupid for not understanding how objects exist in three-dimensional space, but whatever. I need to start somewhere, and I’ll get used to it eventually.
- I edited my thoughts on the book 500 Years Later: An Oral History of Final Fantasy VII into an intelligible review and posted it on my book review blog (here).
I also bought a house and resumed in-person teaching this week. I guess it’s probably okay to feel a little distracted under the circumstances.
