- I finished Chapter 12 of The Demon King.

- I finished editing my original horror story “The Greenhouse.”

- I went back to my original horror story “The Lotus Girl,” and you know what? It’s actually kind of good. I submitted it to Not Deer Magazine, a website that publishes one or two pieces of dark speculative fiction every month. I don’t think they’ll accept my work, but I want them to know that this story exists.

- I submitted a writer application to Eyes of Hyrule, a Legend of Zelda fanzine about the Sheikah. I know a few other people who applied, and honestly I think I might prefer if they were accepted instead of me. I already know exactly what I’d write (this mess right here), and I’d be way more interested in getting a chance to read other people’s stories.

- I love reading my friends’ published stories. This is not an accomplishment. But it’s true and worth mentioning.

- I commissioned the artist Frankiesbugs to draw a four-panel comic about Cosmic Horror Hylia. My script wasn’t that great tbh, but she turned it into something interesting, all the while sending me amazing insights along with progress updates. I am truly blessed to be able to work with her. I wish I were also blessed with enough energy, talent, and money to do longer projects with this artist. “I want to enable her” sounds weird, but I would dearly love to have the resources to work with her on a niche and strange project that aligns with her particular set of skills and interests. Not for social media clout, but just for the sake of art. If I had to guess, I’d say that a lot of “art” is probably just people fucking around with stupid ideas and enabling each other to be really niche and strange.

- Uhhhhh anyway the comic is (here) on Tumblr and (here) on Twitter. I think it makes sense even with a limited knowledge of the Zelda games, and the visual language and flow between panels reads like an animation storyboard. Again, my script isn’t great, but the art is fantastic.

- I also posted the comic on my personal blog (here), along with my thoughts on the lore behind it.

- I was so inspired by this collaboration that I wanted to try to expand on the idea and draw a four-part comic. My art isn’t where I’d like it to be, but I did my best and posted the first part of the comic (here).

I guess also I got some art framed and vaccinated my dogs, and on top of that I got back into Dark Souls, but mostly I’ve been dealing with getting the rights to publish a translation of a short story in a small journal. If you’re wondering how that’s going…
