2022 Writing Log 22

- I finished Chapter 14 of The Demon King and wrote the first half of Chapter 15.
- I finished the story that I’m submitting to the What Do We Do With Your Body? original murder mystery zine. I took a long break from this, and it felt incredible to return. It’s always an amazing feeling when the passage of time gives you insight into what you want to say and how you want to say it.
- I edited the essay about zine discourse on Twitter that I presented at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival and submitted it to my editor at Women Write About Comics. The timing would have been perfect for it to come out this weekend, but it will probably take at least a month, alas.
- I took my two minicomic zines to an indie comics store called (Partners & Son), and I took my two horror fiction zines to (South Street Art Mart). This took a lot of courage! I’ve been visiting both of these stores on the regular for the past year, and it’s such a headrush to see my own work on the shelves.
- I drew the third part of my Cosmic Horror Hylia comic and posted it on Tumblr (here). I know it’s become cliché to say this, but I lost almost a dozen followers overnight because of this post. The critique of brutal authoritarian regimes is never not topically relevant, what can you do.
Not much to report. I’ve been filled with summer solstice energy, and I spent a lot of time touching grass.
