- I submitted a graphic novel review to my editor at Women Write About Comics. It’s called “Sarah Winifred Searle’s The Greatest Thing Is a Love Letter to Gay Teens and Queer Zines.” And it really is! It’s a bittersweet and honest YA story from an artist who draws the absolute best queer Victorian erotica I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.

- I wrote the first half of the story I’m submitting to Fright, a horror movie fanzine. It’s called “The Girl in the Screen at the End of the World,” and it’s about Sadako (from The Ring, of course) picking off the last few humans on earth. I love writing postapocalyptic fiction, and I’m really enjoying myself.

- I edited and made my final submission of “What Sadie Didn’t See,” the story I’m contributing to the What Should We Do With Your Body? original murder mystery zine. Sadie is the manager of a custodial agency in a small town, and her story is about the things people throw away and the secrets everyone pretends not to notice. I worked part-time as a janitor during my first year of college, and the character Sadie is partially based on my absolute badass of a manager.

- I was accepted into the Sheikah fanzine. I wasn’t expecting this, and I’m incredibly honored. I wrote and submitted a set of pitches, and I drew a portrait of Impa from Skyward Sword to use as the icon in my contributor profile. I posted the full version on Tumblr (here).

- Speaking of zines, I’ve finally gotten around to doing the layout for my botanical horror zine. So far I have the title page, the table of contents, and three out of the six stories. I’m trying out a different style of text formatting that looks less like a series of blog posts and more like an actual published book. At least, I hope it does!

- And finally, I posted my story for the Goddess Reborn Legend of Zelda fanzine on AO3 (here). It’s about Impa preparing to train Zelda to become a Sheikah warrior in Ocarina of Time, and it has a gorgeous illustration drawn by Frankiesbugs that you can see on Tumblr (here). This illustration is really something special, and it fills me with powerful training montage energy.

This week I had a medical procedure that was just as awful as I was afraid it would be. I made it through, thankfully, and I’ve been playing Elden Ring while recovering. My Tarnished is named Peaches, and he owes his remarkable ability to survive the Lands Between to the many brutal deaths of his predecessor Tulip, who is currently taking a well-deserved hiatus at a bonfire in Anor Londo.
