The Adventures of Peaches, Part Four
Jul. 21st, 2022 07:22 amPeaches found Edgar, the person he was supposed to deliver a letter to in Castle Morne. Edgar helped Peaches fight the boss, but his story did not end well. Then again, Edgar was kind of racist.
Or was he? It seems like there are various shapes of "people" in Elden Ring. "Omens" are humans who grow horns (albeit all over their bodies, and not in attractive places), and they speak. "Demihumans" are furry little Kobold people who hunt cooperatively in groups and can use magic, and they speak. "Trolls" are giant big boys with external stomachs(?), and they speak. Meanwhile, "Misbegotten" seem to be nasty naked harpies who have no culture or language, and I guess I can understand why Edgar feels resentful. When I met my first talking Troll (Smithing Master Iji, my beloved), I was horrified by how other Trolls have been treated, but all I know about Misbegotten is that they sure do love to kill and eat people. I mean, Castle Morne is filled with literal hills of human corpses. That are being cooked and eaten. Fuck those guys.
Anyway! After that I went to the western edge of the Weeping Peninsula, where there is a large and beautiful beach. On this large and beautiful beach is a procession of rotting human bodies slowly walking into the sea. I don't think there's any "lore" here, and the march of zombies isn't guarding a special item or anything. It's just really cool. Like, thank you for coming all the way out here, here's a treat.
Peaches also did some of the mini dungeons - caves and catacombs and ruins and such - on the Weeping Peninsula, and it was fun. I'm concerned that what has been called "the extended tutorial area" is about the level of difficulty I can handle. In other words, I'm worried that it's going to be a shock once I go back to the "real" game. But you know what? No worries. I can always spend more time futzing around in the wizard school, and it's totally legit if I only play this game until it stops being fun.
