rynling- I edited Chapter 3 of An Unfound Door. I also rewrote parts of it. I decided that a plot point I originally set up in this chapter wasn’t worth the trouble, so I simplified it. I also set up a few of the story’s key bits of history and mythology, and I alluded to the existence of the main villain. This is an important chapter, but I’m not sure how strong it is. I’ll need to edit it again next week, and I’ll probably keep editing it as I go along.
- I edited Chapter 4 of An Unfound Door. It turns out that my first draft was only half-written, so I went ahead and finished the other half. I enjoyed myself, but I’ll need to edit this chapter again next week too.
- I got back comments on the two pieces I submitted to Women Write About Comics this past summer, so I made the requested edits and formatted them for posting.
- I’m working on three book reviews for three different venues. I’m writing them very slowly, at a pace of a sentence or two a day. Laugh if you want, but this is how things get written.
- I drew a quick autobio comic that I posted on Instagram (here). Someone said something clueless and a little mean to me on a Discord server, and I responded bycrying a lot trying to make a joke out of it. Hopefully the joke isn’t as mean as the original comment. Mostly I just wanted to draw a parody of a panel from Berserk.
- I drew a portrait of Preceptor Seluvis from Elden Ring and posted it on Tumblr (here). Seluvis is a shitty wizard who wears a sweet set of wizard robes. I’m usually a villain apologist, but this guy is human garbage. The only reason I haven’t murdered him for his clothing is that he’s essential to a much more interesting character’s quest. His days are numbered, though.
- The reason I drew three wizard fashion portraits in a row was to get experience and level up my art enough to be able to work on an illustration for a friend’s story. I drew the character designs and layout sketches back in February, but I didn’t trust my then-current level of skill enough to do the concept justice. I finally think I’m ready! I’ve also been playing a lot of Elden Ring. Without really getting anywhere, unfortunately, but what can you do. It’s a metaphor for life.
