I have nothing but respect for the privacy of the people who order things from me on Etsy, but every once in a while I have to google someone’s address. Usually this is because I suspect they entered their address incorrectly, but sometimes it’s because the address is so wild.

By “wild,” usually I’m talking about someone in the UK whose address is something like “The House on the Hill / The End of the Lane / Black Crow Village” or something to that effect. Oddly enough, these addresses are always real.

This morning I got one of these orders from Florida, of all places. The person’s name translates to “Lotus Flower,” and they claim to live on a street called Shining Water Pond in a town called Temple Terrace. I was like, “None of this is real,” but friends. It’s on Google Maps.

I haven’t gotten one of these recently, but sometimes I receive orders from strange zipcodes that I’m pretty sure are “secret” military bases out in the mountains. There’s not much to say about this, but I hope the sentient plant life of Florida and the UFOs of Colorado and Nevada are enjoying my zines.

When I was in call center I had a client who lived on Chaunticleer Lane, which delighted my inner English Lit nerd.

Yep! I graduated college in 2004, so Big Recession Times, where there was not a lot of work for a BA in History. I put in 3.5 years in an employer benefits call center, which really put the finishing touches on my anxiety disorder, BUT, I did also learn a ton about employee benefits and it set me up for the job I have now, so there's that.

Congrats to us for surviving. Whew.
