- I wrote and edited Chapter Six of An Unfound Door. I also got started on Chapter Seven.
- I edited and submitted the final draft of my story for At the End of Everything, a Night in the Woods fanzine. None of the other writers have shared their work on the server, but the art is simultaneously on-brand and incredibly creative. If everything goes according to plan, this zine is going to be gorgeous when it comes out.
- I finished my review of Sayaka Murata’s short story collection Life Ceremony and posted it on my Japanese fiction review blog (here). Life Ceremony has the dubious distinction of being the most wholesome book with the most content warnings I’ve ever encountered. When I first read Life Ceremony in Japanese, I remember being like, “How in hell would anyone translate this mess,” but the translator did a fantastic job. This book is highly recommended, but only if you’re not squeamish about human remains… and food… and eating human remains as food. Among other things.
- I finished a review of Ashley Robin Franklin’s graphic novel Fruiting Bodies and submitted it to my editor at Women Write About Comics. I love this artist, and I love mushroom horror. Fruiting Bodies is like a present made especially for me, but I hope I was able to convey what’s fun and interesting about the book in a way that will make sense even to people without my specific set of niche interests. Fingers crossed that the review can come out on the release date!
- I drew an ACEO (an artist trading card) by hand in order to help myself break out of my month-long art slump. It turned out better than I thought it would, so I made a digital version, which I posted on Tumblr (here). I didn’t really draw this with anything in mind, but I decided the character is a moth prince.
- While I was at it, I drew a moss horse to go with the moth prince. I posted the piece on Tumblr (here). I am very good at drawing horses.
Also I am slowly making progress in Elden Ring!
