- I finished Chapter Seven of An Unfound Door. I also wrote short summaries, made preview graphics, and scheduled #WIPWednesday tweets for Chapter Six and Chapter Seven.

- I commissioned StealingPotatoes to create an illustration of Agnes, the heroine of An Unfound Door. This artist worked extremely quickly and with excellent communication, and the illustration itself is lovely. She posted the piece on her Tumblr (here), and her commission info is (here). Working with StealingPotatoes was a fantastic experience and filled me creative energy.

- I posted “The Best Witch of Her Generation,” a short side story for the Goddess Reborn zine, on AO3 (here). This was a collaboration with the artist Leh Latte, whose social media links are on her Carrd site (here). Leh creates cute and colorful illustrations that are a perfect fit for the Zelda series, and she also helped me work to create a solid “early reader” writing style that fits the storybook theme.

- Based on that Rolling Stone article about the Momo Challenge (this one right here), I wrote an original short horror story in the form of a cursed social media challenge list. It’s called “Spooktober Fifteen Day Challenge,” and I submitted it to the Halloween issue of The Oracle, which is a new online magazine with an occult theme. If you’re interested, the call for submissions is on Twitter (here). Submissions close on October 22, and I think they’re aiming to release a digital zine before the end of the month.

- I wrote a piece of flash fiction called “Quiet Haunting” for the 2022 Philly Zine Fest Anthology. This is a semi-autobiographical story about how I live next door to an abandoned funeral home. It’s also about quiet quitting during the pandemic.

- I created an illustration to accompany “Quiet Haunting,” and I posted a color version on Tumblr (here). I’m still not great at it, but I really enjoy drawing architecture.

- My review of the mushroom horror graphic novella Fruiting Bodies was posted on Women Write About Comics (here). I am eternally grateful to my editor, who went above and beyond to help me get this review out in time for the release date.

Other than that, I dipped my toes into the world of AI art. As you might imagine, there are a lot of issues, but sometimes magic happens.

So many spooky stories! And I love the art of Agnes.
