I'm still thinking about how League of Enthusiastic Losers depicts disability, and how good it is.
Specifically, I can't help but compare it to Final Fantasy XV, which handles a similar issue in a horrible shitty way. In FFXV, the character Ignis (the guy with glasses) loses most of his sight after being injured in battle. He still accompanies your party, but he walks slowly. And I mean, very slowly. Your other two party members walk at his pace, but the game does not give this option to you, the player-character. You can't walk at Ignis's pace even if you wanted to, so you have to do this awkward sort of "run two steps and wait" movement. If you mess up the timing and, like, accidentally run three steps, Gladio (the big guy) will yell at you for being insensitive. Because this goes on for something like a third of the game, you eventually start ignoring Ignis and Gladio alike and just start going off on your own.
That's why I quit playing FFXV tbh. It's so frustrating, and it's so offensive. Not only does FFXV refuse to give you an option to be kind, but it also causes you to hate Ignis for not letting you enjoy what should be the most interesting part of the game. And that sucks, because I totally wouldn't mind walking at Ignis's pace in order to better admire the interesting details of the beautiful environments.
Idk, disability is not a metaphor for some superpowered anime character's lack of emotional maturity, and it's shitty for FFXV to set it up like that.
Meanwhile, League of Enthusiastic Losers is programmed so that sometimes you walk at a more relaxed pace. And nobody says anything about it, presumably because the characters understand how to behave like normal human beings.

Idk, idk. Why did FFVII, which is a hot mess, somehow manage to work so well while FFXV is almost unplayably bad? I wish I could explain it.
