rynling- I wrote and revised an outline for the last 2/3 of An Unfound Door. This is my third outline for the novel. Hopefully this one is the last, but we’ll see.
- After more than two years, Boss Fight Books finally opened submissions, so I sent them my proposal for a book about The Wind Waker, along with a sample chapter and a sample translation of an interview with the developers. Fingers crossed for good news!
- About a year ago, I wrote a personal essay called “A Monstrous Little Mermaid Story” about queer identity in the H.P. Lovecraft novella The Shadow over Innsmouth. It was accepted to be published in an online literary magazine that just… disappeared. I figure I’ve waited long enough, so I hardcore edited the essay into an almost entirely different piece. I submitted it to another online literary magazine called Cosmic Double, which just opened submissions for a themed issue that I think might be a really good fit.
- At the End of Everything, a Night in the Woods fanzine, has opened preorders. The zine’s Twitter account is (here), and you can find the store on Bigcartel (here). The zine seems to be doing really well so far, thank goodness.
- I designed the front and back covers for a zine called “Strange Tales and Modern Legends.” I’m putting this zine together for the “Japanese Ghost Stories” class I’m teaching this semester, with the idea being that each student submits a short urban legend. I’m still working on the editing and formatting, but I went ahead and posted the cover art on Twitter (here). If you’re interested, I posted non-horror versions of the two floral illustrations on Tumblr (here) and (here).
I also spent a lot of time prepping to table at the Philly Zine Fest… which is this afternoon! I am very nervous, but hopefully everything will be okay.
